We’ve Got Our Eye on Zion

Zoom off to Utah, one of the jewels of the southwest, to Zion National Park. You’ll truly witness this region in all its glory astride your top-of-the-line bicycle and with the best guides around. Accommodations along the way will always reflect the character of this striking region.

This 5-day/4-night adventure is considered to be a moderate activity level, covering 15-35 miles per day, and it is ideal for intermediate cyclists. Never fear, though! Recreational riders can definitely partake as well, just with a little training prior to your travel—and bear in mind you will always have your support vehicle following along behind you in case you want a break! This is the perfect way to explore this part of the world while exercising your body, and you can reward yourself with simple southwestern fare. Utah scones with honey butter, anyone?

Journey Highlights:

  • Explore Zion’s stunning sandstone cliffs on foot and of course on your bicycle

  • Marvel over ancient lava flows and petrified sand dunes at the lesser-known Snow Canyon State Park

  • Step into what feels like another world as you stand in awe of Bryce Canyon’s hoodoo formations

  • Enjoy an easy ride on the smoothly paved Red Canyon Bicycle Trail in Bryce Canyon

Head to upstate New York for this tasty getaway. You will spend all three nights at Troutbeck, a stylish and historic country retreat in the heart of farm country on the New York-Connecticut border and spend the days cycling through idyllic landscapes and towns. Sample some local apple cider and wines, and learn the area through your taste buds with farm-fresh produce.

This ideal long weekend lasts 4 days/3 nights. It is of the same activity level as the Zion trip, moderate! Any training you might put in before the trip will be well-worth it when you are enjoying all the artisan cheeses, maple syrup, and farm-fresh ice cream your heart desires! Okay, okay, we’ll throw in some organic greens and veggies and some pasture-raised beef too!

 Journey Highlights:

  • Bike over classic covered bridges, through sleepy towns, and through pastoral dreamscapes

  • Sample local produce with the producers and meet the chefs spearheading the region’s farm-to-table renaissance

  • Taste artisanal whiskey and bourbon made from grains grown on the grounds of a boutique distillery

  • Pedal your way into Connecticut for a lunch at the award-winning Arethusa al Tavolo restaurant

Cycle from coast to vineyards as you sample Napa and Sonoma’s finest and explore the awe-inspiring natural landscapes of the region. By day, you’ll meander through redwood forests and treat the aficionado in you with wine tastings. By night, enjoy stunning accommodations where you’ll want to relax and never ever leave.

This voyage into wine country lasts 5 days/4 nights and is also of a moderate activity level. This trip will connect with the wine lover in you, and you’ll also enjoy creative California cuisine, farm-to-table goodness, and artisanal olive oil. Prepare to say goodbye to your heart when you depart Napa. You can always return to visit it, but it’ll stay in the rolling vineyards.

Journey Highlights:

  • Cycle through not one but four (!) of California’s beautiful wine valleys: Russian River, Alexander, Dry Creek, and—of course—Napa

  • Sip and savor California’s rich Cabs and Sonoma’s velvety Pinots right where they’re grown

  • Experience California luxury at two Michelin-star dinners and the region’s most stylish boutique accommodations

Say Yes to the Pacific Northwest

Finally, we just had to share this one because the Pacific Northwest is basically the real-life definition of heart eyes. Discover this pristine part of the region as you cover San Juan Island, Whidbey Island, Lopez Island, Fidalgo Island, and Orcas Island in a single, unforgettable adventure around Washington State’s Puget Sound.

This 6-day/5-night adventure is slightly more strenuous than the others. You can expect to cover 15-40 miles a day. Recreational cyclists will want to train in advance and will likely want to use the support vehicle from time to time. It’ll all be worth it when you’re eating fresh mussels, scallops, and Pacific salmon and sampling local beer and island-grown white wines.

Journey Highlights:

  • Fresh, local seafood, including shuck-your-own oysters in Westcott Bay

  • Immerse yourself in the small-town life of destinations like Friday Harbor and Langley

  • Challenge yourself with a climb up Mount Constitution, where the reward is an incredible view of the San Juan Islands and Olympic Mountains

  • Private sunset cruise with orca and dolphin sightings if you’re lucky (fingers crossed!)
