The Rockies & Beyond by Rail
For over 30 years, Rocky Mountaineer has welcomed keen travelers from around the world, inviting them on a luxury rail journey through the Canadian Rockies and, more recently, in the stunning American Southwest.
North America is full of spectacular natural wonders, from breathtaking vistas of sky-high mountains and sparkling lakes to rugged canyons sprawling as far as the eye can see to its abundant wildlife. Experience the magic of famous national parks flanked by towering mountains and picturesque valleys.
There’s so much to explore, and hopping onboard the glass-domed Rocky Mountaineer is a way to see it all as you go, never missing a second and enjoying world-class service and comfortable hotel accommodations along the way.
In Canada, you can expect to see iconic destinations such as Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper; in the US, visit Denver and Moab—and that’s just to name a few!
The Onboard Experience
Along with views of unforgettable landscapes, you’re in for regionally inspired culinary delights as well. Before each season, Rocky Mountaineer’s Executive Chef creates a menu inspired by the bounty of the passing regions, highlighting local ingredients such as crispy Lois Lake steelhead trout, prime Alberta striploin steak, and fresh Palisade peaches. Savor it all while the onboard team tops up your glass of wine, mixes up a handcrafted cocktail, or regales you with stories about the passing landscapes.
Which Route First?
With four unique rail routes to choose from, the hardest part is deciding where to go first. Retrace Canadian rail history on the most popular route, First Passage to the West, connecting the coastal city of Vancouver to the famous Rocky Mountain towns of Banff and Lake Louise. This two-day journey winds across British Columbia and Alberta, where icy glaciers and cascading waterfalls spill over ancient mountain peaks.
Perhaps you’d rather travel between Vancouver and Jasper on the Journey through the Clouds route. This awe-inspiring itinerary takes you through some of the planet’s most breathtaking and pristine natural beauty, winding through British Columbia and Jasper National Park.
Or, opt for the three-day Rainforest to Gold Rush route and journey from the world’s largest temperate rainforest, through arid desert and tranquil ranchland, and into the untamed wilderness of the Rocky Mountains.
Rocky Mountaineer’s only US route, Rockies to the Red Rocks, winds between Denver and the red sandstone wonders of Utah’s Moab. This two-day journey boasts some of the best highlights in the Southwest, from vast canyons and inspiring deserts to enchanting farmland studded with rolling peaks and valleys.
