Grape-to-Glass & Backroad Bliss at Four Seasons Napa Valley
Four Seasons Napa Valley opens this spring, making it the first ever Napa Valley resort set in a working winery. When you’re not based at the resort, we also have some spectacular backroad routes you may want to drive to explore Napa like a local.
You may have been to Napa before, or perhaps it’s your first time considering a journey to California’s famed wine country. In any event, it’s the perfect time to go because Four Seasons Napa Valley opens early this spring, and it is the first ever resort to be set in a working Napa Valley vineyard. As you would expect from a stay at any Four Seasons, your experience will be perfectly paired with immaculate service, decadent dining, and indulgent spa treatments. Should you want to venture away from your little slice of heaven, we also have some incredible mini-road trips that will have you cruising down backroads like a local.
Four Seasons Napa Valley
Four Seasons Napa Valley is located in a coveted spot: at the northern end of the valley, off the famous Silverado Trail, in the historic town of Calistoga, which actually helped put Napa Valley on the map many years ago when one of its wineries triumphed over the best of France’s chardonnays.
Calistoga is the less-traveled, laidback sister to busy and bustling downtown Napa, which is only about a half hour away. This gives you the option to visit the busier side of Napa Valley while also enjoying the more secluded, pristine area in which the Four Seasons Napa Valley sits. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of vineyards and framed by mountains and forests, this is the perfect place to partake in a bit of hiking or biking, if you’re feeling active. If not, there’s certainly plenty of relaxation to be had.
Accommodations: Rooms & Residences
The resort features 85 accommodations, a wonderful mixture of rooms and suites with lots of connecting options. All suites can be connected to rooms to make them larger, so there are lots of options for families. All accommodations include features such as fireplaces and private terraces, for absolute comfort and coziness, and there are options for either vineyard or mountain views.
The rooms have been decorated in the “Napa Valley Chic” style, which does not detract from the dramatic vistas—cliff bands of the Palisades above oak-studded hills and vineyards below. From first light to evening light, experience California’s “Gold Moment” as the surrounding hillsides reflect shades of gold in the shifting sun.
The Estate Villa
The premier suite at Four Seasons Napa Valley is the Estate Villa, which can either be a two- or three-bedroom suite, depending on your group’s size. It sits on the edge of the resort vineyard and is designed for indoor/outdoor wine country living at its finest, perfect for families or small groups traveling together. This space will become your home-away-from-home and offers superior panoramic vineyard and mountain views. The outdoor dining space is large enough for ten guests, and the suite also features its own pool and lounge area surrounded by vines, which will truly feel like your own private oasis.
Dining & The Winery
Head to Truss for elevated farm-to-table fare, fine wines (duh!), and creative cocktails. Depending on your preferences, your meal can be served indoors, on the terrace, or in private dining rooms for a special occasion.
For a poolside casual vibe, you will want to try Campo Poolside, where delicious Cal-Mexican dishes will delight you. You can also grab-and-go at Trail Market, where you can get coffee and picnic cuisine. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Four Seasons if there wasn’t 24-hour in-room dining as well, so you need never leave your little paradise if you’d rather stay in.
The Winery sits on a 5.6-acre vineyard, which produces a limited collection of estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon wines. As you would expect while living on a working winery, Four Seasons Napa Valley offers hands-on winemaking experiences and tasting sessions, all of which we are happy to arrange for you before your trip.
Spa, Fitness, & Recreation
Is it even allowed for one to stay at a Four Seasons without indulging a little in the spa? We think no. Four Seasons Napa Valley’s Gran Roca Spa features eight treatment rooms (including two oversized couple’s suites—romantic!), featuring outdoor steam and relaxation pads, a coed mudding bay, and a heated spa tub.
The resort also features a 24-hour fitness center, bocce ball court, resort bicycles, and outdoor movement deck. There are plenty of ways to get moving in the fresh Napa air, should that be of interest.
If you’re traveling without little ones, never fear: there is an adults-only pool. However, the resort is also excellent for families, with a family-friendly pool and a Kids for All Seasons program.
Hit the Road from Four Seasons Napa Valley
You may find it nearly impossible to leave the Four Seasons Napa Valley even for a short road trip, but we think it looks pretty dreamy to explore some of these backroad routes, all starting at Four Seasons Napa Valley and exploring your surroundings. It goes without saying that any private visits you might like can all be arranged by us beforehand, along with either a rental car or a private driver (because who wants to be the designated driver in wine country?!), taking any stress out of your time there and leaving you to relax, sip, and savor.
