Tis’ the Four Seasons
(Four) Seasons Greetings with Steve Torres
As a Four Seasons Preferred Partner, it stands to reason that we’re big fans—and so are our clients. We recently caught up with Steve Torres to talk all things FS, including some pillow talk—because at any Four Seasons, the attention to detail extends to the very the last thread of their high-thread count sheets.
POE: Angela Simon specifically requested that we ask about FS bedding. She says it’s fabulous and will soon be available to the public? Do tell.
STEVE TORRES: Our infamous Four Seasons beds are a much anticipated part of the overall experience when you stay with us anywhere around the world. They are much sought after as well—so much that consumers will be able to purchase them for their own homes on our new Shop Four Seasons site (www.shop.fourseasons.com]www.shop.fourseasons.com). There you can purchase the mattresses, linens, pillows, and many other items guests have fallen in love with from their travels at Four Seasons.
POE: Do you have a favorite Four Seasons property, or is that like asking a parent to choose his/her favorite child?
ST: I get asked this all the time, and it is quite difficult to respond as each one of our properties is so unique and different. It is much like asking a parent who is their favorite child. I have various fond memories of each property I get to visit, and it all consistently boils down to one thing—the team I get to meet with. It’s all about connecting with them and seeing the passion they have in whatever role they are in. This is unique for sure. The clients I get to travel with to such destinations is also a key factor. I always tell the group that though we may come on the trip not knowing each other, we leave as friends.
POE: You’re a Four Season(ed) traveler. What is always in your carry-on?
ST: Because I’m on the road a great deal of the time, I have definitely become a road warrior. My choice is simply to travel with a carryon, and I’ve learned to be quite an efficient packer. On all of my domestic trips, I choose to travel only with one carryon and my backpack. Internationally, I need to pack a bit more, so I'll have one larger checked luggage (need more shoe options) as well as my backpack. Essentials I always have with me in my backpack in case of any delays or other mishaps are travel sized toiletries, my laptop, iPad, extra battery charger for my iPhone, face lotion, beard trimmer, hand sanitizer, tissue, chewing gum, sunglasses, eye mask, business cards (you never know who you’ll meet), a baseball cap, and an extra shirt and socks. That way, if delayed I will always have the necessities.
POE: FS offers so many unique experiences for guests at its various properties. What is one you find particularly compelling?
ST: With our Private Retreats becoming more and more popular with multi-generational families and social groups, I always find any additional value that can be added to the guest experience is key. One that stands out is from our Four Seasons Costa Rica resort. They introduced an all-inclusive experience for their top three estate homes. On top of enjoying such a beautifully designed home for you and your guests, you have unlimited opportunities to enjoy food and beverage, spa, and other amenities available
at the resort—a true value all the way around.
