A Q&A with Lara Mayer of The Dominick
View from the Top
It’s a perfect marriage of uptown sophistication and downtown chic at The Dominick in SoHo. Soaring above Spring Street, this 46-story hotel provides unparalleled views from floor-to-ceiling windows and a new perspective on Manhattan. Dark woods, leather, and marble adorn warm yet modern rooms. The 11,000-square-foot Babor Signature Spa includes a seasonal outdoor pool deck and the city’s only full-service luxury Turkish hammam.
We recently tracked down Lara Mayer to talk about her recent move to The Dominick and why it’s one swell spot.
Here’s the deal: If you book with us now through April 2020, you’ll enjoy a complimentary 4th night, including all Virtuoso amenities!
POE TRAVEL: How would you describe a typical guest at The Dominick?
LARA MAYER: At The Dominick, we get a good mix of business and leisure travelers looking to be in the heart of the action here in SoHo. Our discerning guests are cultured, in-the-know, a bit edgy, and like to be in the center of New York’s bustling art, fashion, and culinary scenes.
PT: Please tell us about those penthouses we’ve been hearing about!
LM: In my opinion, The Dominick's penthouses offer some of the most picturesque views of New York City from our tippy top floors! Our stunning two-bedroom penthouses offer floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the New York City skyline, custom furnishings by Fendi Casa, granite bars, and oversized bathrooms complete with rain showers and separate soaking tubs overlooking the city. The personalized attention of our Luxury Ambassador team really sets the tone for penthouse guests ensuring they have a seamless and comfortable stay.
PT: What's your carry-on essential?
LM: When traveling, I like to be prepared for any situation. I never leave home without a cashmere scarf for chilly flights, reusable S'well bottle, portable charger for electronics, and a collapsible tote to bring home treasures I find during longer trips. I also make a point to always bring a notebook with me to jot down names, places, and inspirations that I have come across during my travels. It’s a great way for me to capture the memories I make on the road.
PT: Where do you like to go when you travel?
LM: At this stage in my life, I want to experience new destinations, and my aim in 2020 is to visit Africa and New Zealand. On my next vacation, I want to have a positive impact on a meaningful cause and return home with a sense of accomplishment. Now that I’m based in NYC, it’s fun to plan quick trips to familiar places like Bermuda.
